Local authorities reported on Sunday that sudden and severe floods have displaced over 12,000 families in Marib, central Yemen, since early August.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Executive Unit for the Management of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) stated that seven schools and three hospitals were also destroyed, with 15 other schools affected.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

According to the statement, eight displaced individuals, including four women and a child, were killed, and 34 others were injured due to the floods.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Yemeni authorities had previously reported that around 7,000 families were affected by the floods, but this number has since increased.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lisa Dutton, Head of the Funding and Partnerships Section at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stated that the number of flood-related deaths in Yemen this year has reached 98, with 600 others injured.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Yemen’s severely weak infrastructure exacerbates the impact of floods and worsens the plight of a population already suffering from fragile basic services.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
