Abdullah Al-Qahtani, a Yemeni disabled person in a family with tremendous suffering. Each of us is exposed to tribulations in this world, and one of the greatest tribulations is when Allah brings together all kinds of suffering; poverty, loneliness, disease, and debt on one family. The family of Al-Qahtani is carrying on its shoulders the living responsibility of 8 members in Malaysia.
The breadwinners of the family could not get jobs to cover their needs after tedious and long efforts to find sufficient ones that could provide for their livelihood and illnesses.
Additionally, one of the family members is a 24-year-old, Abdullah, with a congenital disability as shown in the photos. Abdullah is in need for special food that is prepared carefully, special medicines that alleviate the symptoms of his disability, special ointments for his skin problems, medical tools to deal with his sudden spasm, in addition to his hygiene tools such as diapers.
All of these needs have increased the burden on the family, because of which they were unable to pay the rent for two consecutive months for their house located in Balakong. These sufferings have made Al-Qahtani family live in the misery of hunger, the fear of getting kicked out of their house, the fear of exacerbation of the disease, and the despair of unemployment.
Altawasul’s Generous Visit: Donating a Food Basket and Capturing the Moment
Their case is as has been described in Al-Qur’an in Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 273:
“(Charity is) for the poor who are restrained in the way of Allah, and are unable to move about in the land. The unaware consider them wealthy because of their restraint (from begging). You shall recognize them by their countenance – they do not beg people importunately. And whatever of good things you give, then Allah is All-Knowing of it.”
